1P and Form Autofill Suggestions Overlapping

Minor workflow annoyance, but it's actually two "issues" that I seem to have frequently. The first is that the "extension button" or "autofill button" (not sure what it's called-- the 1password button that appears at the end of the username and password fields) does not always show. Usually if the field is too small it won't show, but sometimes even when it's normal size it just doesn't show until I click into the field and give it focus. That then presents problem number two...

Problem number two is that the autofill suggestions from 1password get stuck underneath the standard form autofill suggestions from the browser:

If there is only one logon, I can usually just click around it. But if there are more than one, I often can't discern which is which. This particular site is also an example where I can't use the button on the toolbar because it doesn't autofill into the right fields. Clicking the extension button also doesn't make the autofill suggestion go away. I have hit escape to clear the autofill.

Is there a way for 1password to force those to close when activating or at least be over top of them?

I'm sorry that you're running into filling issues on certain websites. I'll reply below:

1Password is designed to provide suggestion when a form field is in focus. If a website doesn't automatically focus a field then you'll need to click on the field to focus it and have 1Password show suggestions. If you're not seeing suggestions even after you've clicked on a field then can you share the name of the website in question?

Problem number two is that the autofill suggestions from 1password get stuck underneath the standard form autofill suggestions from the browser:

Hello Dave. I did not say that the button doesn't appear when clicking into it. I said sometimes it doesn't show until I click into it. You said it doesn't show without clicking into the field, but sometimes it does. I wish that was an option as that would alleviate the issue as well.

As for Chrome's password manager, it is not enabled. I am an IT professional for over 25 years and have been using a password manager for most of that time, 1password for 7 years now, and never the browser. As I mentioned, the info popping up is Chrome's autofill suggestions. If I disable "Save and fill addresses" in Chrome, then the issue goes away. But I don't want to disable that.

If a website automatically focuses the field when you load the page then 1Password will show the icon in the field. Some websites don't focus the username/password field when you load the page so you need to click into those fields manually to focus them. Whether or not a field is automatically focused when you load the page is something that is controlled by the developer of the website in question and not 1Password.

As I mentioned, the info popping up is Chrome's autofill suggestions. If I disable "Save and fill addresses" in Chrome, then the issue goes away. But I don't want to disable that.

Using two different filling methods, such Chrome's built-in filling and 1Password, at the same time will lead to conflicts where suggestions will overlap. The best option here would be to completely turn off Chrome's filling features and just use 1Password to fill addresses and other information. By default, 1Password turns off Chrome's built-in autofill features after you install 1Password to prevent conflicts of this sort:

Hi Dave. I am not running "two different filling methods". Can you point me to the documented recommendation from 1password to disable Chrome's standard form filling behavior? And please don't point me to the instructions for disabling the password manager as that is not enabled.

The article states that "Make 1Password the default password manager in this browser" should be turned on in 1Password's settings. When this option is on, 1Password will automatically turn off Chrome's built-in filling features, including "Save and fill addresses", and prevent you from turning Chrome's "Save and fill addresses" back on unless you turn off "Make 1Password the default password manager in this browser".

Man, you really stuck it to me on that one. Nice, lol.

The article doesn't say any of that stuff that you added outside of your quote. It does make mention of an autofill setting, but only in relation to Firefox. And I do already have that option turned on to make 1password the default.

Look, if you wanna tell me that the product is working as intended and to go pound sand, fine. If it were me and me company, I'd be interested in trying to make my product work better and not to tell people to disable default browser behavior to make it work properly.
