1P8 Autofill Not Changing Tabs?

I assume I'm doing something wrong, but when I use CMD+\ and then put in where I want to go, the autofill doesn't seem to change tabs and then go to the new site. For example, from the Apple.com homepage, I wanted to go to Keurig. I tapped CMD+\, typed Keurig, and then enter. I got a warning message that stated, "1Password can't verify that http://www.apple.com should have access to your "Keurig" item. Do you want to fill it anyway?

Is this just new design behavior I need to learn around or is there a setting I need to change. I'm assuming the former because my brother-in-law is not having the same behavior, or at least he says he's not.

I may have answered my own question. Is the new behavior that a simple site name results in an autofill even if its not the page entered? And...if you want the previous behavior...the instruction needs to be; site name

No...wait...now I think the function is just wonky or bugged, but am open to correction. The + notices that the words typed in the search field do not match the current site and the default behavior shifts to which is good and elegant.

So, I tried +\ again, and this time the function didn't even activate 1P8. I had to restart the browser for +\ to function again.

If I need to give up my +\ muscle memory, just tell me :-)

I'll complain a bit, but then will get on with things, but right now it seems pretty buggy.

Hi! With the new capabilities of autofilling into apps, some of flows have changed a bit. "Autofill" tries to fill into the current web page or app, where "Open in Browser" is the one that would open the URL from the item in your web browser and then try to fill there. The Command+\ keyboard shortcut is tied to Autofill, but once you're in the list of items, you can use Option+Return to Open in Browser instead (or right-arrow to see all of the available actions).

If you use the default shortcut to activate Quick Access (Shift+Command+Space by default) this will have different behaviors where Open in Browser would be the default action. We handled this with two separate keyboard shortcuts (one for activating Quick Access, and one for triggering Autofill) because the autofill shortcut will actually just try to fill without showing anything at all if you're in an app, or on a website that has only one Login item saved for it. It only shows the Quick Access UI if you have more than one item for that app/website. And now that Autofill works in apps and not just websites, a lot of people expected the behaviors to work a bit differently.

This is an area we are still exploring some, and I appreciate hearing feedback on this and where it may cause confusion, so thank you!

I think I've got it, but yeah, I think you guys need a video or even a page with a few visual use cases.

Here's why I thought the CMD+\ was bugged (btw...what do you call this combination now...if not quick access)

I was on an authenticated site that only had one ID/PW pair stored. Since I was authenticated, there was no ID/PW field. In previous 1P iterations CMD+\ would have brought up a field where I could then put my next destination, hit return, and zip off to the next browser tab where it would authenticate wherever I was going.

Now, it just does nothing...apparently...what it ACTUALLY is doing, if I understood you correctly, is sending the ID/PW pair to the already authenticated site, but since there are no fields in which to fill, that data just goes poof.

No indication to the user that anything has happened...at which point said user goes, "Fraking Canadians...this bloody thing is bugged."

We call it Universal Autofill. 😀

It sounds like in your specific situation, using Quick Access to jump to your next destination might be the best bet.
