1Password and Logitech Options

I use a Logitech mouse, which uses the Logitech Options panel to intercept mouse clicks and perform actions.   I have two buttons, one issues a ctrl-H to hide windows, and ctrl-W to close windows.   All works fine.

Only recently, 1Password application occasionally will interfere with this.  (Maybe since the last big update)?   with 1P open, the mouse keys will suddenly stop working as if 1P is intercepting the control sequences.   As soon as I quit 1P the problem is solved.   Sometimes clicking around a few open apps and it also resolves itself.   But testing shows it is 1Password as the root cause.

Anyone else see this kind of behavior?

Hello @John_Mc! 👋

I’m sorry that 1Password is interfering with Logitech software on your Mac. Our development team is currently testing a fix for an issue where 1Password will enable Secure Input incorrectly which interferes in other apps. The fix is currently in the latest nightly version of 1Password for Mac. If you're comfortable using an experimental release, and interested in helping us confirm that this fix resolves the issue that you've been running into, then please try the nightly by following these steps:

  1. Open the 1Password 8 for Mac app and sign in.
  2. In the menu bar, click 1Password, then Settings.
  3. In the Settings pane, switch to the Advanced tab and change the Release Channel to NIGHTLY.
  4. Swap to the About tab, and click Check for Updates.
  5. After the update downloads, click Restart to apply the update.

You can read more about the nightly version here:  Use 1Password beta or nightly releases | 1Password Support

Once you've updated and restarted 1Password, try to reproduce the issue again. Let me know how it goes.

One of the nightly builds must have done the trick, as I have not seen the problem reproduce itself.   Thanks!

Hi @John_Mc, I’m so pleased to hear that the problem hasn’t reoccurred since switching to the Nightly build. Thanks for letting us know!

We hope to release the fix to the beta and then production version as soon as possible. You can keep an eye on our release notes page for news: 1Password Releases

Once the fix is released, if you’d like to switch back to the beta or production channel, you can find the steps here: Stop using a prerelease version of the app

Let us know if you have any further questions!
