1Password cannot sync with Orange France mobile data

This is a very weird issue I found just recently. Whenever I am using Orange France mobile data, the 1Password app fails to sync and says it is offline. If I use a different wifi network, it syncs just fine. I can also replicate the error on my laptop by tethering to my phone. When tethering, the desktop app fails to sync.

I'm sorry that you're seeing an offline message in the 1Password app on certain networks. Our infrastructure team deployed improvements to our network handling earlier today, can you lock and then unlock 1Password and let me know if you still see the same issue? 

If you do still see the same issue then please let me know and the team and I can investigate further.

Here are some seemingly relevant log items:

ERROR 2025-03-14T10:57:16.143+00:00 runtime-worker(ThreadId(17)) [1P:foundation/op-proxy/src/apple.rs:303] failed to perform PAC setup (PacDownloadTerminated(failed to download PAC script: The operation couldn’t be completed. (kCFErrorDomainCFNetwork error 308.))), the proxy will be unavailable

The last line is repeated once for each time I tried to reconnect in the desktop app. 

 

I should note that the Orange connection is otherwise perfectly functional. This post was made on my Mac using my Orange connection through tethering.

Have you set(up) proxying anywhere in your mac or your phone? I.e. it looks like it's looking for a PAC file (Proxy AutoConfiguration) but not finding it. Which could be normal if you determine using a proxy only if the file exists, but it's either a red herring or something to carefully look at.
