1Password does not work with Safari profiles

The app is pretty much unusable with Safari if you use profiles. Sometimes it won't unlock, sometimes it will only unlock with the icon in the browser bar, sometimes it will unlock but nothing will fill. It may work in one profile, and fail in others. Much of the time I have to open the 1Password app, search it for the site I'm on, and copy and paste the password into Safari. It works fine in other browsers.

1Password Version: 8.10.27
Extension Version: 2.21.0
OS Version: macOS 14.4
Browser: Safari

Hello folks!

Our developers have released improvements to how 1Password communicates with Safari profiles in the latest versions of 1Password for Safari. Please make sure that you're running the latest versions of both macOS and 1Password for Safari:

If you're still seeing issues with the latest version of 1Password for Safari and macOS then I'd like to ask you to create a new diagnostics report from 1Password in your browser so that the team can identify whether you're running into a known issue and help further:

Send a diagnostics report (browser extension)

Attach the diagnostics to an email message addressed to support@1password.com

With your email please include:

Also an issue for me still, ridiculous that it's been over a year.

For even more failures create web apps in the dock from Safari,

They count as a profile and so don't work unless you shut all othe Safari related apps including Safari down.

When is the best time to grab a diagnostics report for this issue? I'm on the latest versions (and also on the beta versions on another device) and am still having these issues. In fairness, they don't seem to be as frequent but they're definitely still happening to where I need to enable/disable the extension to get it to kick in.

Should I be grabbing the diagnostic report when it's spinning? When it's not working? After I reset the extension? Both? What is the most helpful?

@dpkonofa

Thanks for the question! You can generate the diagnostics report anytime after you reproduce the issue using these steps

The team can provide further direction if they need more information once they've reviewed the diagnostics report.

I'm having the exact same problem and have the latest version of the extension for Safari. I use three different profiles and it's hit or miss with 1Password when it comes to autofilling a username and pw. Sometimes it works but often it does nothing, even though I'm logged into the app. Worked great with Chrome but I had to move off Chrome for other reasons so now I'm all set up with three Safari profiles and 1Password is leaving me hanging.

PS: I have latest Mac OS as well.

For anyone still experiencing issues with the 1Password extension in Safari, I’ve found a solution. It may not be perfect, but it seems to work. Due to problems with Safari history (and cross-device syncing), I had to perform a full reset of Safari, including deleting all user profiles. I did the reset from iOS, which also triggered a reset of Safari on macOS.

After creating new profiles, the extension—with desktop app integration enabled—started working quickly and flawlessly in each one (I’m currently using five profiles). I’m not entirely sure why it works, but it does :)
