1Password icon changed

Hi, recently the 1Password icon changed to a bluish tint all of a sudden. I found some articles stating that it could be because the app is in beta, which it was, but I switched to production and the icon remains the same. Has anyone else experienced this? No biggie, but I figured I would ask! I've attached a screenshot.

Thanks.

Hi @chris000

Even if you've changed the release channel to Production in Settings > Advanced, it sounds like you still have the Beta installed. To stop using the Beta and switch back to Production, you can follow the steps shown here:

Use 1Password beta releases # To stop using the beta

Hope that helps! :)

Thanks Grey. I tried this, however, it says I have to launch an application called “test flight” in order to stop using beta. I don’t have TestFlight installed on my system. Is it possible something else could be causing this? For instance, could I have downloaded the wrong version from your website?

@chris000

Thanks for the reply. The desktop app on the Mac doesn't use TestFlight, are you seeing a message that you need to use TestFlight on your Mac?

Can you do the following:

  1. Open your Applications folder.
  2. Double-click on the 1Password app icon.
  3. Click on 1Password next to the  in the menu bar.
  4. Click About.

What version number do you see and what release channel are you currently using (beta, nightly, or production)?

Hi, here is the information:

1Password for Mac 8.10.46 (81046023)
on Beta channel

Thanks!

@chris000

Thanks for confirming that, it appears that you're still on the beta version which is expected. Even if you change the release channel in the app to "Production" you'll remain on the beta until the next time that there's a Production version that has a higher version number than your current beta version.

To manually switch over to the Production version of 1Password for Mac, without having to wait for the next Production update, follow these steps:

  1. Make sure that you have a copy of your Emergency Kit and that you're signed into 1Password on another device.
  2. Remove the 1Password app and local data
  3. Install the Production version of 1Password for Mac

Let me know if you run into any issues.

Will do. Thank you.

I assume it’s best to download the app from your website as opposed to the Apple Store?

@chris000

1Password 8 for Mac is not available from the Mac App Store. You can download it from our website using the steps in my post above.

I'm happy that you're up and running with the Production version now. 🙂
