Question

1Password instead of Passwords

I just installed MacOS 26 public beta.  I do not have an option in System Settings to make 1Password the default password manager.  Ideas?

I've read all the articles about browser extensions but that is not my question.

Hi @billdavies,

Thanks for your question. 1Password doesn't use the "Autofill & Passwords" feature in macOS System Settings, so if that's where you're looking, you won't see it listed there.

Instead you can fill and save logins using either 1Password in the browser (our browser extension) or using Universal Autofill in the Accessibility settings

The instructions in the Universal Autofill article should still apply, even running the macOS 26 beta. If you're seeing something different, though, please post a screenshot and we'll figure out what's going on!

So you're saying top button on, second button off?  Seems like 1P is getting Sherlocked.

Edit: Ignore everything I said. I think my issue is that I still had the Intel version and I'm running a M4 Mac. Or I just dreamed that whole thing. Either way, I reinstalled 1Password 8 and was able to activate Universal Autofill.

I think the problem is that the 1Password for Mac 8 app is not yet working on macOS 26. So those options don't show up for anyone on the beta. So until 1Password for Mac 8 will run on the beta software, Universal Autofill won't work and we're limited to the Safari extension.

Unless I'm wrong? I just remember when I downloaded the beta it told me that app wasn't supported and I can't find it anywhere on my Mac now.
