1password keeps launching on reboot - Mac

I'm sorry that 1Password is launching unexpectedly on your Mac. I'm not seeing the same issue on my own Mac. Can you check the following:

1. When you restart, or shut down your Mac, are you making sure that the "Reopen windows when logging back in" checkbox is turned off?
2. Do you have any browsers set to open at startup? If you do then 1Password in the browser might be launching the desktop app when the browser opens.

Interesting. I do leave Chrome open, with "Reopen tabs when logging back in" turned on (or rather, Chrome Preferences / On Start Up / Continue where you left off). I find it extremely convenient. However, I don't recall this causing the 1password desktop app to auto launch on reboot until several weeks ago. On my other MacBook Pro (macOS 10.14.6, 1password 7.9.11, chrome extension 2.27.1), though Chrome is set to "Continue where you left off", this does not cause the 1password 7 desktop app to auto launch.

Is this on or off when you restart/shut down your Mac? Can you reproduce the issue with it off?

Thanks for clarifying to which feature you were referring. I do leave that checked; I find it extremely convenient. When I relaunched with it unchecked, 1password 8 did not auto launch. However, I've been a 1password customer for sevearal years, have always left the feature checked, and have never had the issue with 1password auto launching. I find it very convenient to keep the feature checked.

Thanks for the reply. When you do leave "Reopen windows when logging back in" open do you first close all open 1Password windows before restarting or shutting down your Mac? Check to make sure that you don't see 1Password in your Dock with a black dot underneath it before restarting / shutting down.

Can you also tell me if the "Keep 1Password in the menu bar" option is checked on your Mac? You can find it in 1Password desktop app > Settings > General.

I added 1Password to my Dock. When the black dot is not under the icon in the Dock, I can reboot and 1Password does not auto launch. However, after reboot, I notice that the 1Password icon is not in the Menu Bar. Of course, there is a lock on the icon in my Chrome browser extensions. When I unlock 1Password using the Chrome extension, the 1Password icon shows up in my Menu Bar - but also, there is a black dot under the 1Password icon in the Dock. To keep 1Password from auto launching after reboot (because I keep "Reopen windows when logging back in" checked, I have to "Quit" 1Password by right-clicking on the icon in the Dock. It's an extra step I never had to take until a few weeks ago.

This is expected behaviour. The black dot underneath the 1Password icon in the Dock signifies that one of 1Password's windows is open. When you choose to select the "Reopen windows when logging back in" macOS will relaunch the apps that you have open right before you restart / shutdown your Mac. To prevent 1Password from opening after a restart there are two options:

1. Keep "Reopen windows when logging back in" turned off.
2. Close all of 1Password's windows before you restart your Mac so that it is no longer active and you don't see the black dot underneath the 1Password icon in the Dock.

It's possible that something wasn't working before on your Mac and now it is. This behaviour has been the same since 1Password 8 was released in 2022 as far as I can recall.
