1Password not recognizing Barclays website

https://cards.barclaycardus.com/ likes to "Remember username" by default. 1Password only recognizes the username and password fields as valid if the username has not been remembered. If the username is remembered, and the only thing left to populate is the password field, 1Password does not recognize it and I need to copy and paste the password, or click "Log in as a different user" to get both the username and password fields to show up.

1Password Version: 8.10.46
Extension Version: 8.10.46.26
OS Version: MacOS Version 15.0.1 (24A348)
Browser: Chrome

Hello, @wzamites. Thank you for reaching out.

I'm sorry about the trouble. Our development team is tracking an issue on the https://cards.barclaycardus.com/ website where the password won't autofill if the username is cached. I've added you as an affected user to our internal reporting.

In the meantime, I'd suggest unchecking the Remember username box before signing in or using https://support.1password.com/getting-started-browser/#use-drag-and-drop-to-fill-in-apps from the 1Password extension pop-over.

I hope that helps.

@esquared

Thanks for letting us know that you are experiencing this issue as well. I don't have any updates to share at this time, but I've let the team know about your experience with the 1Password extension on the Barclays website as well.

@SamX,

I don't have updates to share regarding this issue. I've shared with our development team that you also encounter this problem.

Thank you for all you do.
I can confirm this is still occuring for me, as well, on the BarclayCardsUS website.

It's definitely tied to the "Remember username." Finally, after many months, I saw this post, clicked "Log in as different user" which cleared the remembered username, and 1Password was able to autofill.

It's nice to know I'm not alone on this issue. ❤️

I've had this problem for a while; however, one additional piece of information.  If I clear the user, and have 1Password sign in, it seems to again check "remember username" before submitting the form, even if I cleared it before autofilling -- meaning the next time I have to clear the user again.

@eraserhd I've run into the same. It appears to be a site default to check that box after the page is reloaded. I find myself unchecking it just before I have 1Password submit the login credentials.

This issue is affecting me as well, and has been unaddressed for six months or more.  Can you provide any update on when it will be fixed, or even if it is being worked on?

@dburkes, @eraserhd, and @brian163

I'm sorry that you're running into the issue as well. The bug report is still open in our development's team backlog and I don't have any updates to share at the moment. I've added your reports to the internal work item.

For now, I recommend using the workaround that my colleague posted.

As excited as I was to hear this, with Safari extension v8.11.10.37 I am really not seeing a change in behavior.

The -site- is still enabling "remember username" by default. So unless you uncheck that every time you login to the site, after a logout/login, it remembers your username and 1P then refuses to inject the password. (The 1P icon doesn't even appear in the password field which it typically does.)  The only way to get around this is to click the "log in as a different user". Then 1Password will fill in the username and password. (And then you have to uncheck "Remember username" every time to prevent this loop.)

I know it's not 1Password's fault that the Barclays site keeps enabling "remember username" by default (for security purposes the logic should be the opposite!) but unless 1Password can force that to be unchecked when the page loads the problem is technically still there (1Password refuses to inject the password if the username is cached).

Hi @brian163,

I'm sorry it's still not working properly! Would you be able to email a screen recording of attempting to log in to Barclays (omitting any sensitive data) to mailto:support@1password.com so we can see what you're experiencing? When you've done that, please respond here with the ticket number. Thank you!
