1password over macos "distant control" ejects me

hello,

I have a mac mini m4 and a macbook pro, and lately being in poor health I remained in bed and controlled my mini via "distant control"

iit works beautifully, the only problem i have is when i am using my mini via remote control my macbook 1password on the mini ejects me! I enter my password, and the second i click anywhere inside 1pass<ord it closes and shows me again the prompt asking for the password. it does that again and again.

t's no bug. I think it's a security feature - and a wise one - but i"m sure there is a way to tell 1password i allow this - there is one for example in little snitch, but i have looked everywhere in 1pass and could find nothing that looked like a way to authorize remote control.

I'd be super grateful if anyone could help me.

many thanks, have a great week-end!

U.

Hello @usurpator! 👋

I'm sorry that 1Password is locking unexpectedly on your Macbook. So that I can better understand the situation can you tell me the following:

  1. Does "distant control" refer to a specific third-party remote management app? Or are you using built-in macOS/iOS tools?
  2. Are you using high-performance screen sharing? You can check using this guide: Screen sharing type options on Mac
  3. If you are using high-performance screen sharing then does switching to standard mode help?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Dave,

I use the plain vanilla built in macOS remote control

I was in high-performance screen sharing, I just went to standard and 1P left me browse 15 seconds instead of 5

I dont know if that helps but while I was physically on the distant machine (yes I got out of bed! lol) I unticked "lock on sleep screen saver or changing user.

So many thanks in advance!

@usurpator

I'm glad that switching to "standard mode" helps! We recently released improvements to address issues with high performance screen sharing and I recommend that you update to 8.11.12: How to keep 1Password up to date

If the issue comes back then please let me know.
