1password safari extension Issues

I am having trouble updating passwords in safari using the 1password for safari app.  I get a few issues:

  1. Gives me different errors when I try to update an existing password.
  2. Does not sync between the desktop version and the browser extension.

When I get the error that I cannot update the existing password, I make the change to the password in the desktop app and have to copy the new password to use it because the syncing to the browser extension is either slow or does not happen.

Anyone else seeing this?

Thank for those details. Based on the information that you've provided, you're running into a known issue that was introduced with Safari 18.4 that our team is working with our friends at Apple to resolve.

For the time being, opening the website in a new tab or using Command-Backslash (the desktop app's Universal Autofill feature) to fill are the best workarounds.

Hello @youngjm! 👋

I'm sorry for the delay in replying. Are you still running into these issues? If you are then can you tell me the following:

  1. When the issue occurs, does locking and unlocking the 1Password desktop app allow you to see your updated password there?
  2. Do you see a complete and correct copy of your items when you log in to your 1Password account on 1Password.com (in the browser, not the app)?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks for getting back to me.  I do still see the issues and I am not seeing a really good pattern.  Ie. at chase.com it may work if I go there right after starting the browser and other times I need to use the keyboard shortcut so the User name and password are filled in from the menu bar...

I am not sure that locking/unlocking and/or disconnecting the safari plugin from the desktop app consistently works....  What I can say is that when the issue comes up, the window from the plugin icon gets slow to open if I click on the icon.

I wish there was a consistent way that it behaved.  I miss the days when 1password was native Mac.  It just worked....

Thanks!

@youngjm

Thanks for the reply. I've visited Chase.com in Safari and filling is working for me:

When was the last time that you ran into the issue? The next time that you run into the issue, try opening Chase.com in a new tab in Safari. Does filling work in the new tab?

I had the issue this AM.  It will work sometimes and others not.  If I do open a new tab it typically will work.  That is my trick and/or use the command-back slash short cut.

Thanks!  Hopefully Apple will fix that soon.
