Question

1Password will not install in MacOS 27.

I have downloaded the 1Password zip multiple times and every time i click the info button on the installer I see “Open using Rosetta”. MacOS 27 no longer includes Rosetta and I have no plans to install it. Is there an alternate way to get the ARM64 version of 1Password from the downloads or do I have to try to install it from the app store?

Hello @RalphGoers! 👋

I’m sorry that you’re unable to install 1Password on macOS 27. Can you try the following:

  1. Delete all currently downloaded 1Password installers from your device.
  2. Download a new installer from our website: https://1password.com/downloads/mac

The installer will identify the correct build for your Mac and install the right version of 1Password. If that still doesn’t work then let me know.

I have done that several times. The installer always says it requires Rosetta. I did manage to get around the problem by copying the 1password app from my M2 Macbook Pro. To be honest, I am not sure why an installer is even necessary since many apps are package as .dmgs that you can just copy to the Applications folder.

I should point out that MacOS 27 does not support Intel CPUs so for 27 and up you don’t need any logic to determine which version to install.
