1Password Windows Client not remembering where I was

Two updates ago, 1Password stopped remembering where I was when I unlock it. For example, I would select Account 1 and go to Favorites. I could then lock 1Pass or let the idle timeout activate and unlock it with Windows Hello; it would remember I was in account 1’s Favorites. Now it instead always goes to “All Accounts”.

Is this a bug or is there an option to return the old behavior?

Hi @jpdied, thanks for reaching out about this!

Could you let me know whether you see an “Open 1Password to” setting in the desktop app under Settings > General, and if so, what you currently have it set to? This is a new setting that allows you to choose the view you’d like the app to open to each time, and this may be contributing to the behaviour change you’ve seen.

If the option is missing, or if you have this set already and your choice isn't being respected, that would be helpful to know too.

Thanks for the response; that setting was set to “All Items”. I’ve modified it to “Favorites” and it now opens favorites though its for all accounts rather than the specific account I was on initially.

Hi @jpdied, thanks for confirming that. It sounds like changing the setting to Favorites helped partially, but you’d still prefer it to be scoped to a specific account.

The current "Open 1Password to" setting applies across all accounts, so it doesn't have a way to specify which account’s Favorites to open to.

I'd be happy to pass this on as a feature request. To make sure I log it accurately, could you confirm what you'd ideally like to see?

  • The app remembers and opens your chosen view in the last account you were on, rather than all accounts.
  • An option to set a specific default account to open to, alongside choosing which view to open to.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

I think either of those can work. If the app could remember which account you were on last, that would work. Alternatively, along side the “Open 1Password To:” option, provide an option to select a specific account or all.
