1Paswword extension preventing Dell iDRAC 8 Virtual Console from working
Hi,
I have a bit of an odd problem with 1Password and the Dell iDRAC 8 HTML5 Virtual Console. Specifically, when I have the 1Password browser extension, the Virtual Console doesn't work load. As soon as I disable 1Password and refresh the page, it will load. I can toggle 1Password on/off and the behavior is consistent. Note that I'm not trying to auto-fill anything, simply having the extension enabled will break the Virtual Console in iDRAC 8.
Is there any setting I can toggle that might help? I've gone through my 1Password browser extension settings and tried toggling quite a few settings. Is there any debug information I can provide 1Password to help diagnose and fix this issue?
This behavior doesn't show up with iDRAC 9 and I think it's because the Virtual Console viewer probably works differently. I have a coworker that has confirmed the behavior in both Firefox and Chrome.
So from my observation. The HTML5 virtual console in iDRAC 8 works like this:
- You login to the idrac, typically using an IP address: https://192.0.2.123/. The first time you load this, you'll go through a certificate warning message.
- When you click "Launch Virtual Console", it will pop open a new window with a base URL of https://192.0.2.123/
- It then opens a second pop-up window to https://192.0.2.123:9500/; the first time I opened this it presented a cert warning. As soon as you click past the cert warning this window closes.
- If it's working, then that first pop-up window will open the virtual console and all is happy. I suspect the Javascript in this first pop-up window is connecting to a websocket on port 9500 and they just needed the user to clear the cert warning in for port 9500, which is what the second window is for.
When the 1Password browser extension is enabled, I don't even see that second pop-up window.
I've included a JS console diff of a working iDRAC 8 session without the 1Password extension enabled (left) and a broken iDRAC 8 session with the 1Password extension enabled.
Has anyone else ran into this? Is there anything that the 1Password extension does that I can disable? Is there anything I can provide to the 1Password developers to help troubleshoot this? I'm willing to do a screen-share to illustrate the issue.
