Question

1PW is now automatically opening

1PW opens automatically when I hit the icon on the windows taskbar.  It does not ask for my password anymore. I use firefox.  It always used to ask for my pw, but obviously I did something but I don’t know what I did and how to undo!  I have gone to settings/security but don’t see where to change this behavior

Hi @LindaY, thanks for posting!

From what you've described, it sounds like 1Password is no longer prompting you for your account password when you open it from the Windows taskbar, whereas it used to require it every time.

This is likely related to your auto-lock settings, but a few details will help us pinpoint what's changed. Could you answer the following?

  • Do you have both the 1Password for Windows desktop app and the 1Password browser extension installed, or just one of them?
  • Do you remember if something changed on your device around the time you noticed the behaviour change, for example after installing or uninstalling either the 1Password app or extension, or an update to Windows or 1Password?
  • Under Settings > Security, what are the settings under the Auto-lock heading set to?
  • When you find 1Password is still unlocked, is this after you’ve woken your device from sleep or left it idle for a while, or is it when you’re still actively using your device, just not 1Password?

Looking forward to hearing from you!
