2020 Intel iMac no 1password in Safari

Hello,

There is a post about this problem by another user and it is marked as solved.  However, I don't remember seeing what the solution was.  I am having the same problem.  Anyone know what the solution was.  I tried all the options given.

I am up-to-date on Safari, installed the extension (it contains a checkmark in Safari Extensions), but 1Password does not appear in the Safari toolbar.  I've also re-installed 1Password and 1Password for Safari and rebooted my Mac.  Still no 1Password in Safari.  Problem is in both macOS Sonoma and 26.2, both up to date.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance...

Hi Dave,

I was able to get 1Password and Safari working again.  I re-installed Sonoma and noticed 1Password for Safari was corrupted somehow.  After I deleted and re-installed it per your instructions, the 1Password button is back in the Safari toolbar.

Thank you so much for the help!

Hello @craig18! 👋

I'm sorry that you're not seeing 1Password in Safari's toolbar. As a first step can you try all of the suggestions in this article: If you don’t see the 1Password icon in your browser’s toolbar

If that doesn't work then can you try these steps in order:

  1. Completely close Safari.
  2. Open and unlock the 1Password 8 desktop app.
  3. In the menubar at the top of your screen click Help > Fix Missing Safari Extension.
  4. Open your Applications folder and drag 1Password for Safari to the Trash (Keep 1Password where it is.)
  5. Download and install 1Password for Safari from the App Store again: 1Password for Safari

Then, make sure that 1Password is enabled in Safari > Settings > Extensions. Let me know if you still don't see it in Safari's toolbar.

Hi Dave,

Thank you for the help!  Much appreciated.

I tried the steps you listed and still no 1Password icon in the Safari toolbar. BTW, my 1Password version is 8.12.0, MacOS Tahoe 26.2, Safari 26.2.

Things seem to work fine in Chrome, but not in Safari.  1Password works fine in Safari on my Apple Silicon Macs.  The problem is just on this iMac 2020 (Intel).

I'm probably missing something simple...

Thanks again,

Craig18
