Question

Absorbing my parents personal account into my Family Account

My aging parents & I each have 1password accounts.  They just renewed.  They want to join my family account to make things easier.  I have 3 questions: Can the unused portion of their payment go toward our shared family account?  Can they keep their 1Password password when they join my account?  Does the fact that they have a PC and I have a Mac create any problems?

Hello @larsendk! 👋

Thank you for the questions, you can certainly move your parents to your 1Password membership if you’re using 1Password Families! I’ll answer your questions directly below:

Can they keep their 1Password password when they join my account?

Yes, your parents can use this guide to join your family account, migrate their items, and set their account password: Migrate your existing 1Password data to a family account

Does the fact that they have a PC and I have a Mac create any problems?

Not at all! 1Password works great on both PC and Mac.

Can the unused portion of their payment go toward our shared family account?

This question is better suited for our billing team. I recommend opening a support ticket by sending an email to support@1Password.com and including a link to this thread so that they can take a look and advise further.

I hope that helps.
