Any Plans to Fix Apple Watch Integration in MacOS

Numerous bugs, since I can remember...

The Apple Watch prompt will bug out and loop when the watch is in sleep mode, making it extremely frustrating to type in the password.

The Apple Watch prompt to log in to 1Password will half the time disappear within seconds of appearing on the watch, leaving you pressing the side button for nothing. Then, when you start typing the password manually, it will pop up again, and your best bet is that it will work this time.

I’m sorry that you’re sometimes unable to unlock 1Password using your Apple Watch. Our development team has investigated and confirmed that the current way that interactions are handled across Apple devices when using the Sleep Focus breaks Apple Watch unlock for 1Password. We've reported the issue to Apple and hopefully a future macOS/watchOS update can improve things here.

For the time being, you’ll need to use either Touch ID or your account password to unlock 1Password while using the Sleep Focus. Alternatively, you can switch to a different Focus before unlocking 1Password using your Apple Watch.

Are you running into other issues outside of Sleep Focus when unlocking 1Password using your Apple Watch? Let me know.

Hey @1P_Dave I just thought I'd chime in here, I don't think there will really be much that Apple can and will do here since this is by design and the intended way that the feature is built.

The way this is being reported, aligns with how Apple has designed the security mechanism within MacOS and WatchOS when in Sleep Mode. I have attached a photo of my Mac when attempting to wake it from Sleep while my Watch is in Sleep Mode. It will not unlock the Mac at all while the Watch is in Sleep mode. It makes completely sense and anyone using Sleep focus mode while trying to unlock their Mac or 1Password should in theory be asleep otherwise a different focus mode should be utilized.

I second everything said by the OP. This experience needs to be better.

As @1P_Dave asked about other issues, I want to jump in and say that there's a latency around autofill when unlocking 1Password with the Watch, it takes a good couple of seconds to autofill. If I unlock it using my password the autofill is instantaneous as it should always be.

I'm sorry that you're seeing a performance issue with autofill. So that I can better understand the situation can you tell me the following: 

  1. Are you referring to filling using Universal Autofill or filling using 1Password in the browser (the browser extension)? Which browser or app are you filling into?
  2. Is the latency that you're seeing with 1Password unlocking after you confirm the unlock by double-pressing the button on your watch? Or after selecting a specific login to fill?

  1. It's the Universal Autofill with Safari (without browser extension), but I can see the same happening in a macOS system prompt and other apps.
  2. It's after confirming the unlock by double-pressing the button on the watch.
