App and Brave extension not linked

I have the box checked to link them but signing in on app doesn't sign me into the extension, nor do settings changes take effect.

Also, I have the app set to sign in with my system sign in. That doesn't work either.

Is there any point to the app?

Yes, I've clicked the right box in the app. I still need to do all settings and login twice.

Also - I have Unlock using System Auth selected to no effect.
