Good morning,

I open 1Password on my desktop using Hello. But every time I launch Firefox, an authentication prompt appears.
How can I get rid of this annoying message?

Best regards

Hi @schweiwi, thanks for posting!

I understand that you unlock 1Password using Windows Hello, but you’re seeing an authentication prompt every time you launch Firefox.

To help me better understand the situation, could you answer the questions below for me:

  •  Is the prompt a Windows Hello prompt (asking for your PIN, face, or fingerprint), or the 1Password lock screen (asking for your account password), or something else?
  • If you right click on the 1Password icon in your Firefox toolbar and go to Settings > General, what does the Integration status say?

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Hello
Ah, okay, I disabled the extension and now the problem is gone.

Thank you very much, and have a nice day.

@schweiwi

Thanks for the reply. We definitely don't want you to have to disable the 1Password browser extension as a workaround, since it provides many of 1Password's core features, such as autofill.

If you're interested in troubleshooting this further, let us know and we'll be happy to help.

That makes sense, so I checked that box again.
But how do I get rid of these annoying messages?

Hi @schweiwi, thanks for confirming that you’ve re-enabled the extension.

To help us pinpoint what's causing the authentication prompt, we’ll need a bit more detail about what exactly you’re seeing:

  • What type of prompt is it? For example, is it a Windows Hello prompt (PIN, face, or fingerprint), the 1Password lock screen (asking for your account password), or something else?
  • Could you share a screenshot of the prompt you're seeing? Make sure you fully conceal any private information, as this is a public forum.
  • What does the extension’s integration status say? You can check by right-clicking the 1Password icon in your Firefox toolbar and going to Settings > General.

Looking forward to your reply!

Hi 1_P Gem,

I'm starting the desktop installation and logging in with “HELLO.”
As I do that, a small window pops up in the bottom right corner of Firefox with a prompt for authentication.
Unfortunately, it only appears for a very short time, so I can't take a screenshot of it.

By the way, I'm running Windows 11 Version 25H2 (Build 26200-8737).

Hi @schweiwi, thanks for your reply!

This doesn’t sound like something I’ve come across before. If you’re willing, I’d like to have our support team investigate this further with you. Could you create and share a 1Password diagnostics report from your Windows PC: Send a diagnostics report (Windows)

Attach the diagnostics to an email message addressed to: support@1password.com

With your email please include:

  • A link to this forum thread
  • Your forum username

You’ll receive a reply with a Support ID number. Please post that number here so we can join the dots. Thanks!

Good morning,

Thank you very much 🙏 I’ll be happy to follow up on that.

Last night, I disabled general notifications in Firefox to see what would happen.
Unfortunately, 1Password isn’t listed among the approved notifications, so I can’t disable it specifically.

Best regards,
schweiwi
