Auto-open a private window in Safari?

When I double-click on an item in 1P, a new Safari tab opens, and my login credentials are auto-filled for the item in question. This works just fine. But, for selected 1P entries, is there a way to have 1P auto-open a new private tab in Safari rather than just a normal tab?

Hello @Newbie2018! 👋

Thank you for reaching out. 1Password will pass a link to your default browser and it isn't able to choose whether a link opens in a private window or in a regular window.

However, you can allow 1Password to run in Private Browsing mode (if you wish) so that you can open a private window first and then open the website from 1Password in Safari's toolbar from inside of that private window:

  1. Open Safari..
  2. Click on Safari next to the  in the menu bar.
  3. Click Settings and then Extensions.
  4. Click 1Password for Safari.
  5. Check "Allow in Private Browsing".

Then, when you're in a private window, you'll still have access to 1Password and can open and fill websites from 1Password in Safari's toolbar. I hope that helps.
