Hi all. Is there a setting somewhere to automatically fill in 2fa codes? I can't find anything.

Cheers

Hello @brettn! 👋

Thanks for the question! 1Password will fill your 2FA one-time password right after you fill your username and password, you can read more here: Use 1Password as an authenticator for sites with two-factor authentication - Use your one-time password

Is there are a website where you're not seeing this happen?

I know this post is oldish but wanted to leave a note in case it helps someone else who stumbles across this post.

I had a scenario where the one-time password (2FA) website was different than the login website. Adding the 2FA website to the 1Password record allowed the 2FA code to fill automatically.

This is probably more in the line of a feature request, but 2FA autofill is also needed after passkey login sometimes. I keep bumping into this with Paypal. On my iPhone, it requires me to completely switch apps to 1Password to manually dig out the 2FA code. (It's a lot less annoying on macOS thanks to the easy-to-summon Cmd-\ search.)

(I tried to search to see if there were past discussions of this, but forum search seemed to be broken just now. It eventually timed out with an alert about an upstream microservice error.)

@jeremywsherman,

Thank you for reaching out. It is expected behaviour that the one-time password won't autofill if you're using a passkey to sign in because a "fill session" wasn't started. Passkeys are separate from autofill as they use a public-private key pair for authentication. Rather than filling credentials into a form and creating a fill session, when you sign in with a passkey, the website or app will issue a challenge to check that you have the private key that belongs to the pair.

While I can't make any promises, I created a feature request on your behalf and shared your feedback with our product team so that when you use a passkey to sign in, the one-time password will autofill.

That would be great. Even just putting it on the pasteboard in case I need it, as happens with passwords, would go a long way. (I definitely did try pasting, just in case it worked already.)

Thanks for filing the feature request!
