Question

Autofilling a saved login still triggers a "save/update password" prompt, and accepting creates a duplicate item — on Windows desktop as well as iOS

After using 1Password to autofill credentials for a site I already have saved, submitting the login brings up a save/update password prompt. The prompt does not surface the existing item, so the only option is to create a new entry — producing duplicate logins for the same site.

I see this on Windows desktop, not just iOS. Other users in [link the r/1Password thread] report it on iOS 26 in Safari and in native apps such as Fidelity or banking websites.

Expected: no save prompt when the filled credentials match an existing item; if a prompt does appear, accepting it should update that item rather than create a new one.

Hello @bioebud! 👋

I’m sorry that you’re seeing an unexpected save login prompt. For iOS, can you update to iOS 27 and see if you still see the same issue: Update iOS on iPhone

For Windows, can you tell me a little more about where you’re seeing this prompt? In which browser and on which websites?
