Automate Sign-in Using Symantec VIP Access?

At the moment there isn't a way to have 1Password automate this type of sign in process, and copying and pasting will be the best method here. You can turn off the pop up that asks if you'd like to update your item after you sign in with the steps below - however this will turn it off for all websites, so you'll need to remember to click Save in 1Password on the inline menu before signing in when you do want to change a login or save a new one.

1. Right-click the 1Password icon in your browser toolbar, and choose Settings.
2. Under the Autofill & save section, disable Offer to save logins.

I can definitely understand how this could get annoying, especially with a website you use frequently, and I've gone ahead and filed a feature request with our Product team to see if this is a sign in process we can better support in future.

Hi Gem. The suggestion to turn off autosaving everywhere seems to highlight the omission of the ability to configure 1Password behavior per login. I recognize that this login type is rare, but it does exist, and it would sure be nice to avoid this paper cut every time without having to fundamentally change how I use the entire product.

Thank you for the feedback. Are you able to provide some websites where you'd like to configure 1Password to not prompt you to save a login? Are you also using Symentec VIP like the original poster is and have to append a code to the end of your password? Or are you looking to suppress 1Password on specific pages for other reasons?

Hi Dave. Thanks for your reply. USAA Bank (https://www.usaa.com/my/logon) uses Symantec VIP, but these are easy enough to get saved in 1Password just like any other TOTP.

Their weird implementation is that users who enable it do not have a password anymore. At each logon, into the password field we enter our PIN and append the TOPT after the PIN.

So, I have the PIN saved in 1Password (as the password) so that it will autofill that part, and then paste in the one time code. 1Password recognizes that what I submitted is different, so on every login the user has to tell 1Password not to save and overwrite the PIN with the PIN+OTP. So ideally yes, if there was a way to tell 1Password to add the PIN and OTP together that would be amazing. In lieu of that, I a way to tell it, "don't ever ask me to update this site's password" would remove some friction, as I believe used to be an option.

Thank you for those details and for providing that example. While I can't make any promises, I've filed a feature request to add an option to turn 1Password off on a specific page. Our product team will look into adding such as option in the future.

For the time being, you can hide 1Password on a specific page until you restart your browser by right-clicking on that page and then selecting 1Password - Password Manager > Hide on this page.
