Being asked for password after Windows Hello

My issue is it will each time after windows hello ask for my password. At that point what was even the point? It to me feels like it doesn't work or something is broken. Either with my TPM, windows hello or 1password.

Hello @catagris! 👋

I'm sorry that Windows Hello isn't working as expected on your Windows PC. I've split your post into a new thread since the old thread hasn't had any activity for three years and the information there might be dated.

My issue is it will each time after windows hello ask for my password.

That definitely isn't expected behaviour. If you unlock 1Password using Windows Hello then you shouldn't also be asked for your account password. So that the team and I can help further, I'd like to ask you to create and share a 1Password diagnostics report from your Windows PC:

Send a diagnostics report (Windows)

Attach the diagnostics to an email message addressed to support@1password.com

With your email please include:

  • A link to this thread: https://www.1password.community/discussions/1password/being-asked-for-password-after-windows-hello/171144
  • Your forum username: username

You should receive an automated reply from our BitBot assistant with a Support ID number.  Please post that number here.  Thanks very much!

So what I can say, is that when doing the first unlock with the web browser extension it asks for windows hello, sometimes it seems to work but then asks for the password before you can use windows hello. Sometimes windows hello reports and issue and then closing it makes it ask for a password.

However if the first unlock is with the desktop all then there is no issue (I have seen).

@catagris

Thank you for those additional details. If you can follow the steps in my previous post to send in a diagnostics report then our support team can look into this further so that we can determine the cause of the behaviour that you're seeing.
