Biometric unlock breaks when Face Unlock is enabled on Honor Magic 8 Pro
Hello 1Password Support,
I'm experiencing a persistent biometric unlock issue in 1Password on my Honor Magic 8 Pro.
Every time I try to unlock 1Password, the app shows the following message:
“You need to enter your account password before you can use your biometric unlock.”
However, entering my account password does not resolve the issue. No matter how many times I successfully enter the password and unlock the app, the same message appears again the next time I open 1Password.
As a result, biometric unlock effectively never becomes available.
This also affects Autofill: I am forced to enter my full 1Password account password almost every time I want to autofill credentials in another app or website.
The important part is that this issue only happens when Face Unlock is enabled on the phone.
If I disable Face Unlock and leave only fingerprint authentication enabled, 1Password biometric unlock works normally.
So the behavior is:
- Fingerprint only enabled → 1Password biometric unlock works correctly.
- Face Unlock enabled → 1Password repeatedly says I need to enter my account password before biometric unlock can be used, even after I have already entered it successfully.
The issue was already present on:
- Honor Magic 8 Pro
- MagicOS 10.0.0.200
- Android 16
and it still persists after updating to:
- MagicOS 11.0.0.120
- Android 17
Face Unlock itself works normally for unlocking the phone.
This makes me suspect that 1Password may be selecting or detecting the facial biometric method differently when Face Unlock is enabled, instead of falling back to the fingerprint sensor.
Could you please investigate whether this is a compatibility issue with Honor's biometric implementation, Android BiometricPrompt, or the way 1Password handles multiple biometric methods on MagicOS?
I can provide a diagnostics report if needed.
Thank you.
