Browser Extension Losing focus

I'm mainly calling this out because the 1password official extension for chrome works fine, but the firefox one has this peculiar issue.

This is on OS X and I'm using Alfred (snippet manager) to keep some of my more commonly type out parameters and in this case unlocking my 1password account.  Usually I just type alt+command+c type a string and hit enter.  That usually pastes the password in the input box that was previous selected.

In Chrome this works great, in Firefox I accidentally searched for my master password because the focus was taken instead of maintaining it on the input box from the browser extension.  I'd rather avoid the whole process of changing my master password every so often.  Is there some setting I missed that will maintain focus on the browser extension rather than the browser page?

I'm sorry that 1Password is losing focus in Firefox. I did want to note that keeping your account password in a snippet manager isn't recommended since that location is likely not encrypted. This means that you're storing your account password in plain text on your Mac where it can be found by other people or other apps. I would recommend turning on Touch ID or Apple Watch unlock instead or choosing an easier password to type in: 

That being said, I'm having trouble reproducing the issue that you're running into. Can you tell me the following: 

  1. How are you opening 1Password? By clicking on the 1Password icon in Firefox's toolbar? Or using some other method?
  2. Can you post a screenshot of the 1Password window that loses focus? 
  3. Do you have the menu bar icon turned on in the desktop app: 1Password > Settings > General > Keep 1Password in the menu bar. 

Please make sure that the screenshot doesn't show any sensitive information.

The reason I had it on snippet is because it prompts me for the master password every so N number of days.  I have the touchID configured and don't have an apple watch.  The touchID isn't accepted after so many days where it forces the password.  So I'm either using a less secure password that I can't remember or use a long complex one that I store somewhere.    If there's alternative approaches on how to secure it ideally with some "i have" rather than I know that'd be great.

 

That being said, a bit more context.

I'm running LibreWolf (Firefox based) if that makes a difference.

  1. I'm opening it by clicking on the browser toolbar.
  2. Sreenshots below, typing alt+command+c then selecting dummy to paste the word dummy in the 1pass prompt results in the second screenshot

     

Which is both annoying and also security issue because there's JS code that sends usernames to the server to provide validation and such which potentially leaks the master password.
