Bug? Chrome extension prompts for pw, then reverts to biometrics after click

I'm having a really annoying issue with the 1password chrome extension. Im on an M4 mac. Whenever I attempt to autofill, either by shortcut or by clicking on the browser icon, a dialogue will pop up asking me for my master password. Then, when I click on the password field, it will then give me the option to use biometrics. I would prefer it go straight to biometrics. This used to work fine. I don't know if this is a known issue, or if I have some local problem. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the extension, and Im using it on multiple chrome profiles so I doubt it's another extension interfering. Chrome is up to date. This has been going on for probably the past 6 months.

Thank you for the screenshot. It sounds like the integration with the desktop app (which handles biometric unlock) isn't working properly. Can you try the following:

  1. Close all open web browsers.
  2. Right-click on the 1Password icon at the top of your Mac's screen and then click Quit. Wait until the icon disappears.
  3. Double-click on 1Password from your Mac's Applications folder.
  4. Open your web browser and try to reproduce the issue again.

If you still see the issue then I'd like to ask you to create and share a 1Password diagnostics report from 1Password in your browser:

Send a diagnostics report (browser extension)

Hello @brooksmason! 👋

I'm sorry that you're being being prompted for both your account password and biometrics when unlocking 1Password. So that I can better understand the situation, can you post a screenshot of the dialogue that you see asking you for your account password?

Can you also tell me what version of 1Password and macOS you're using: Find the version numbers for 1Password and your operating system

I look forward to hearing from you.

This one. Then if I click in the text box, it reverts to biometric.

Thanks Dave! I had my icon in the mac top menu bar turned off and the start on launch button checked, and so even though I was quitting the 1password desktop app, I don't believe it was entirely terminating the application, which is why this wasn't resolved over the past 6 months. In order to fix it, I had to re-add the icon to my menu bar and quit from there after closing my browser.
