Hello,

It seems the password generator only shows on the password field of a website, it the site previously has a password added.

As below, it shows not items, a password cannot be generated.

Once a site is saved then the option appears:-

The time we need a password generated is before have created a password and saved it in 1P.

Hello @Anthony4578! 👋

I'm sorry that 1Password isn't suggesting a new password when registering for a new account for the community. This issue is specific to websites powered by our community vendor and the team is investigating.

For the time being, you can generate a new password manually by using the password generator in the pop-up rather than in the inline menu: Create a custom password

Have you seen the issue on any other websites? If you have then can you tell me which ones?

Thanks, Dave,

I have experienced it elsewhere, but not often.  I will note the sites the next time it occurs.

I have tested on three sites and all those were working.

First site it has happened on since post.  https://www.hydrospares.co.uk/confirm.php when checking out and asking for a password.

Being able to right-click > 1Password > Generate Password would be good.  Alternatively, the Generate Password button from the Chrome extension should be always visible - at the moment users have to find it inside the menu items.  I think it would be better if always displayed like the  New Item, or immediately on a right-click.

@Anthony4578

Thank you for the website address and the screenshot. It looks like I'm not able to get to the password field because you have to put in an address into the website in question after checking out. So that I can investigate this further, can you send in the following:

  1. A screenshot of the page showing the password field in question.
  2. The webpage's page structure.

How to get the page structure:

  1. Open the website in question until you can see the search field that you're referring to.
  2. Right-click on the page and click "1Password - Password Manager" > Help > Collect Page Structure.

Attach the resulting JSON file to an email message addressed to support@1password.com
