🐞 Bug Report: App content not obscured in iOS App Switcher when “Lock Immediately” is enabled

Product: 1Password for iOS
Version: 8.11.16 (81116035)
Device / OS: iPhone 17, iOS 26.0.1

(Note: Issue also observed on earlier iPhone models, iOS versions, and previous 1Password releases.)

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Open 1Password.
  2. Go to Settings > Security > Lock on Exit, and set Lock Mobile App to Immediately.
  3. Return to the main screen of the app.
  4. Swipe up to access the App Switcher (the app remains open in the background, not fully closed).

Actual Result:

The app’s screen content remains visible in the iOS App Switcher. Sensitive information (such as vault names or item details) may still be displayed.

Expected Result:

When the app is moved to the background and shown in the App Switcher, its content should be obscured (for example, replaced with a white screen displaying the 1Password logo or lock screen).

Reproducibility:

Intermittent — not 100 percent reproducible. Occasionally, the expected lock screen with the logo appears correctly.

Security Impact:

Visible app content in the App Switcher poses a potential privacy and security risk, as sensitive data could be seen by anyone viewing the multitasking overview. Hiding or obscuring the app preview, similar to how Signal or banking apps handle it, would improve user data protection.

@1P_SimonH Could you please check if this is reproducible on your end and eventually create an internal bug ticket? 😬

Thanks for pinging me on this, @accordionmelody! I was able to reproduce it with 1Password 8.11.18 on an iPhone 17 with 26.1. I'm going to make a screen recording and file a bug.
