Can't find my old discussions

I’m the family organizer for 1Password. I have previously initiated discussions in the 1Password community, starting in 2015 and until 2024. My community profile shows zero topics, replies, etc. Why is that?

Hey Joan! The 1Password Community moved to a new platform in February 2025. During that migration, we brought over Community accounts that had been used within the previous 12 months.

My guess is that it had been a little while since you last signed in, so your original Community account wasn’t migrated. That would explain why the profile you’re using now shows zero topics or replies even though you’d participated in the Community previously.

Your old posts and comments likely did come over during the migration, but because the account itself wasn’t migrated, they would have been anonymized and unfortunately can’t be linked back to your new profile. If you remember the title of an old discussion or even roughly what you were asking about, though, there’s a good chance we can still find it here.

And of course, you’re absolutely still welcome to participate with the account you have now! 🙂

Thanks, @1P_Blake, for the explanation. I’m surprised by the requirement to have signed in within the previous year. The emails describing the migration said “Your content comes with you. Your posts, replies, and interactions will all be available in the new Community.” without any caveats.

@1P_Blake looking at the new information in your edited response, I tried searching for my old posts. I’m not able to find any of them even by searching on the titles of the discussions, so apparently they didn’t migrate.

Disappointing, particularly since this behavior isn’t at all consistent with the expectations you set in the communications about the migration.

@joangoddard I definitely understand why you’d be disappointed, especially if you were expecting discussions going all the way back to 2015 to still be here!

I went back and pulled up the emails we sent ahead of the February 2025 migration just to make sure I wasn’t misremembering anything. We did call out both of these limitations at the time. Community accounts needed to have been used within the previous 12 months to be migrated, and we only brought over posts, replies, and interactions from the previous three years.

So unfortunately, some of what you’re looking for simply wouldn’t have made the move. Anything older than that three-year window wasn’t migrated, and if it had been more than a year since you’d signed in, your Community account itself wouldn’t have come across either.

I do understand why the “your content comes with you” line stuck with you, though. There was more detail about exactly what would and wouldn’t migrate further down in those communications, but I can see how you came away expecting everything to still be here. I’m sorry this was an unpleasant surprise when you came back.

@1P_Blake, my apologies. Apparently, the community has been migrated twice, once in early 2025 and again in July of this year. I was looking at the emails from the more recent migration. Looking at the older emails, I see that older content was not migrated in any case. I’m not sure I agree with that approach, but I see now that we were duly informed.
