Cannot Turn on Touch ID

Touch ID wasn't working for me for the last several days, so I finally got around to troubleshooting. Decided to turn it off and reset it, but now it's greyed-out and I can't ungrey it. I've restarted my computer and followed the steps I saw in a discussion here from two years ago. That person did the same and got advice to send a diagnostics report. Help?

I was able to contact someone in tech support and with their instructions it seems to be working now. Thank you for replying to this post.

Hello @writercook! 👋

I'm sorry that you're unable to turn on Touch ID for 1Password. Just to clarify: is Touch ID working for the Mac itself? If it is then I'd like to ask you for a diagnostics report so that I can see why Touch ID isn't working for the 1Password app:

I'd like to ask you to create a diagnostics report from your Mac:

Sending Diagnostics Reports (Mac)

Attach the diagnostics to an email message addressed to support@1password.com

With your email please include:

  • A link to this thread: https://www.1password.community/discussions/1password/cannot-turn-on-touch-id/151717
  • Your forum username: Writercook

You should receive an automated reply from our BitBot assistant with a Support ID number.  Please post that number here.  Thanks very much!
