Hi!

I couldn't find any answers related to the new 'date' entries you can save for 1Password items.

The default format is American, which for me is really bad. It always confuses me and it is quite error prone for expiration reminders.

So I would like to ask if there is a way to set the date format to German for example. Will there be if it is not already possible?

Good news for your question! We recently made a change where 1Password will follow the date format of the region you set on your device. I'm happy to share more specific steps for switching your region, if you want to share which devices and operating systems you're using.

I'm on Mac and I know how to change my system settings. What setting is the one used in 1Password, though? Currently, my region is set to Germany, the Time Zone is set to Western Indonesia Time. Primary language is set to English (US). Date and Currency formats follow the German format (e. g. dates are displayed in DD/MM/YYYY).

Shouldn't this be enough? 1Password still uses the American date format, though. What version of 1Password is needed for this to be in effect?

Hi @neun34tel,

This feature requires 8.10.80 or higher. For the Mac, the date format currently corresponds to the default date format associated with your currently selected preferred language rather than the region, so it follows the setting here:

Customizations beyond the default date format aren't supported but our developers are considering further improvements to accommodate folks who might want their date format to differ from the default for that language.

Thank you for the feedback! At the moment, 1Password will set the date format according to what you've set as the preferred language for macOS. However I'll pass your request along to the team internally.

Ugh. I just got bit by this.

So macOS allows me to configure the date format I want, and then 1Password ignores that and instead assumes whatever else based on another system setting?

Why would anyone want that? Who thought this is a good idea?

I'm sorry that the current behaviour doesn't work for you and that it caused an issue. This is on our developer's radar. For the time being, the 1Password desktop app's date format is based on your preferred language in macOS.
