Cit Bank login page: 1P asks for updating when nothing changed

It’s one of the banks that replaces parts of the login name with symbols. Apparently this makes 1P think that the login name has changed and offers to update it. Can you please fix this so that it doesn’t prompt anymore?

It might be a good idea to link to the bank’s web site. You probably mean CIT Bank, but the way you wrote it looks like you typo’d Citi.

As there are a couple of banks with very similar names, could you let me know the URL for the sign in page? This will ensure I’m able to test the correct website.

I’ve done some testing on my end and it does look as if 1Password is running into some confusion due to the dots the page uses to conceal the username.

As I don’t have a real Cit bank account, I’m not able to test whether the login actually works, nor am I able to reproduce a save prompt after autofilling. However, initially saving a username on this page does attempt to save it with a series of dots at the end.

To confirm my understanding, your username is currently saved without any visible dots, and you’re able to sign in successfully when you autofill, but then 1Password shows a prompt to update it to a username that includes the dots?

Yes, my username is saved correctly in 1P (without the dots) and I’m able to sign in successfully after letting 1P autofill username and password. I do not remember how I saved the username in 1P; possibly in a registration page that didn’t replace it with dots, or before they decided to replace part of the username with dots, or by manually correcting it. (I’ve ran into all of these situations before.)

In any case, here is the current login sequence:

I let 1P autofill username and password.
- For some reason, the login page defaults to “Remember Me” checked and the username is pre-filled. I’d like it unchecked, but don’t know how to make it so. Once in a while I uncheck it to see what happens, but the next time I get to that page, it’s checked again.
In any case, the username is partially obfuscated with the dots.
Then I click “Sign in”. After this, 1P prompts me to “Save login?”, defaulting to “Update Existing” and selecting the1P entry I used to log in.

It’s that “Save login?” prompt that I would like to get rid of.

Hi @gerhard498, thanks for these additional details! If you’ve not tried this already, it may be worth clearing your browser history/cache/cookies to see whether that allows the remember me checkbox to remain unchecked for this page.

I’ve filed a bug report with our developers so they can investigate whether there’s anything that can be done to improve the experience on this website from our end. It may be that due to the way the username is concealed on this page, there’s not much we can do, but it’s worth a look over.
