Convenience-Plus-Safety on a Phone

This is an enhancement request, unless there's a way to do it already. On a phone, I'd like a way to open 1Password using Face ID PLUS a simple code. Typing my entire 1Password password on a phone is too onerous, but with Face ID alone I'm concerned that in an attack situation the attacker might be able to aim the stolen phone at me and open 1Password before taking off. Requiring a simple code in addition to Face ID would protect against this while still keeping the use of 1Password on a phone convenient. Of course, this code could never be used by itself--only in conjunction with Face ID.

What do you think? And/or is the another approach to achieve the same convenience-plus-safety on a phone?

Thanks.

Hello @fssbob! 👋

Thank you for the feature request! Even if someone was able to steal your iPhone and unlock the iPhone itself they would then need to find the 1Password app and unlock it separately. You can have 1Password lock more quickly to help protect against this threat: How to set 1Password to lock automatically

You can also choose to have your phone unlock using one method (such as Face ID) and 1Password using another method (like your account password or the device PIN): Use your device password or passcode to unlock 1Password

That being said, I can see how requiring a PIN in addition to biometrics could give some folks more peace of mind. While I can't make any promises, I've filed a feature request on your behalf with our product team.

Thanks Dave.

If it makes any difference, I’d consider the ability to require the device PIN in addition to Face ID to be just as good as requiring a custom PIN in addition to Face ID.

Hi @fssbob, thanks for this additional detail. I’ve added this to the feature request for the team to see.
