Creating masked emails in the app?

I started using Fastmail and the masked emails feature. It works great, until it doesn’t. If I can’t get the safari extensions to show the create masked email option (usually from poor website design), the only other option is to sign into Fastmail and create one from there and then I have to go back to 1Password to input it to there and then finally back to the website.

Why is there no way from within the app to generate these emails?

Hello @joshmurphy! 👋

Thank you for the feedback! We do have an existing feature request open to add the ability to generate a masked email address using the 1Password app and I'll add your vote there so that the product team is aware that this is something that you'd like to see. 🙂

@1P_Dave Yeah, its a fine workaround - but its a workaround. It's an extra step that shouldn't need to happen AND it means I can't block/unblock emails in the 1password app like I can when they're generated in 1password.

@DancingTable

Thank you for the additional comments, hopefully our product team can add plans to further build out our integration with Fastmail in the future.

@1P_Dave Can we prioritise this feature please. The UX is broken

@rebea12

Thank you for the request. While I can't make any promises, I've let the team know that you'd like to see this feature be added to 1Password for iOS as well. 🙂

Hello, I would like to add my contribution to this thread, because the integration is currently broken.

Having to create manually an email alias in Fastmail most of the times make the whole point of the integration inoperant, and for me it looks like a beta feature, the integration should not be considered complete if we can’t create aliases manually in the 1Password app.

This integration has incredible potential, and it’s a very missed opportunity right now !

Adding my voice - longtime 1Password user but just moved from Simplelogin to Fastmail for masked email using custom domain.

Being able to generate the masked email directly in 1Password (like Proton Pass does) would be amazing...

Ah, I expected to be the first to report this.

Given that the browser extension hardly ever suggests to create a masked email when I'd like it to, this is particularly frustrating.

I'm even more disappointed now to learn 1Password has been asked to fix this problem several times over nearly two years.

But, I'm glad to learn that competitors have implemented this already.

I'll be cancelling my auto-renewal and switching over should this not be fixed when that time comes.

@loopsided

Thank you for the feedback, I've let the team know that manually generating masked email aliases is something that is important to you. For the time being, I personally use the Fastmail iOS app to manually generate a masked email address if needed in a pinch.

I'm sorry to hear that 1Password in the browser isn't identifying places where it should be offering to generate a masked email alias. The next time that you come across one of these webpages, would you mind sharing the link to the webpage with me? I can file an issue to have our development team fix the issue on that page.

If you don't want to post the links on the public forum then you can send the link to support+forum@1Password.com and include a link to this forum thread. 🙂
