Date picker doesn't allow selecting year, and is hard to use with keyboard
When I add something with a date field, if I tab into the date field, my typing is ignored. I have to click once in the date field to bring up the date picker, then click again to dismiss it, and then I can start typing.
The cursor moves automatically between month, day and year (despite those not actually being in the right order for me!) but I can't see that's happened as there is no visible caret, nor is the current field highlighted. However, if I'm entering the expiry date on a credit card, it doesn't move automatically from month to year!
If I decide to use the date picker, I cannot click on the year to pick a year. If I want to enter the passport details for a friend born in July 1960, I apparently have to click the "previous" button 64 times if I want to use the date picker. It really should present a grid of years, or let me type a year, when I click on the year.
All this makes entering dates a tedious chore, even before getting hit by the bug when insists on only using US date formats in non-US countries :)
Are there any plans to improve date entry? I know the format bug is already being looked at, but I haven't found anything much about the other irritations…
