Desktop app Touch ID Sensor is currently unavailable
I just started getting the error message ""TouchID sensor is currently unavailable when opening 1Password desktop app on Mac. Touch ID was working for 1Password a few days ago. Touch ID works fine for logging in to the Mac
This is on macOS Sequoia 15.7.3 when using the 1Password Desktop app v8.12.2. I do not have the Safari extension installed. It also works fine on my iPhone using Face ID on iOS 26.2.1
I have already tried the following recommended steps and still get the error message.:
- Completely turn off your Mac and then turn it on to restart it. (Don't skip this step.)
- Open and unlock 1Password for Mac.
- Choose Apple menu > System Settings, then click Touch ID & Password.
- Turn off all of the features, then turn all of them back on again.
- Go back to 1Password and choose 1Password > Settings from the menu bar.
- Click the Security icon, then turn "Touch ID" off and then back on.
- Lock 1Password by choosing 1Password > Lock from the menu bar.
- Now try unlocking 1Password using Touch ID.
