Emergency access - people I trust that may ask to access my account in case of an emergency

Similar to how Proton does it, I would like an option for a 1Password Family member to take over another account in the family if this other account does not respond to this request within N days. Of course, this member of the family must have the other added to this list of approved accounts that can take over his account.

In what way is that beneficial over sharing your emergency codes or emergency kit? I know that you are referring to some time passing by, but what if 'whatever the trigger is' doesn't notify the actual user, would they just loose their account?

For the below, not trying to underpin your suggestion, just making sure we dot the I's and cross our t's.

For example, user a is owner and user b pings for access - unless a responds within 30 days ownership is transferred to b?
- What if that notification 'mail' or 1password 'pop-up' notification is lost or disregarded in any way
- 30 days (or any amount of days) doesn't really sound like emergency access :)
- Are you referring to taking over the account or just ownership of the account, as you create a shared vault with said information in it shared between each other, and family owners can anyway 'reset' and 'confirm' for takeover (so you could share that responsibility)
- I think a responsibly shared recovery code or emergency kit should comprise about the same, though problematic since there is not 'x days passing' as it can be used any time

The period could be set to fewer days (like 5 or 7).

Hope I'm not misunderstanding you, but basically sharing the emergency kit is as I understand it, giving them access to your account (at any time, without you knowing). The feature I'm proposing is ideal as you're not giving away access to your account, but only in case something happens to you (either temporarily or not) and you want to make sure someone in your family can still access your account, but you still want to be the sole person with access to it under normal circumstances.

Not sure about all the small details, they should be reviewed and decided by 1Password.

We're not misinterpreting each other, though if I would miss the 'b wants access, dear a' in a 7 day (vacation, sick, whatever) period, you'd also have everything, right? And surely it's an idea to be evaluated by the powers that be, but I'm not sure where I'd put my trust on this one. To be fair, using recovery codes 'locks you out' where emergency kit is just 'another one accessing your account' (both of which you will get notice as well though). And not sure what you'd like to comprise with it ... giving someone https://support.1password.com/family-organizer/ privileges should hand them (almost?) everything the owner can.
