Family Accounts vs Vaults

Does anyone have experience using different family accounts to segregate items by sensitivity. I’d like to have things like banking information protected by a long pass phrase but put routine website login info in a different account that wouldn’t require an overly complex passphrase.

I thought that vaults would give this capability but they share the same access control. Based on the name alone, it doesn’t make sense to me. I think of each vault as having its own combination. The 1Password model is that each user has their own combination (password) for all the vaults that they are authorized to use.

Hello @Steve94917! 👋

Thanks for the question! All of the information that you save in 1Password is protected using end-to-end encryption and the secret to unlock that information is your account password and Secret Key. There isn’t a way to encrypt different vaults using different passwords. You can read more about our security model here: About the 1Password security model

The best option would be to create a separate family or guest account that only has access to the vault that you’d like that account to have access to:

I hope that helps!
