Family name sticks after switching to personal plan again

Hi there,

I changed my plan from 1Password family to personal. Unfortunately the name for the family account now sticks even with my private account and I can't find a way to change it.

Imagine going through a rough breakup or divorce, trying to cope and getting the "family situation" thrown in your face everytime you use 1password - that's a bummer!

Thank you very much in advance for information on how to rename this.

My apologies, the steps in my previous post contained steps that wouldn't apply to an individual account. I've removed that post. Please use these steps instead:

  1. Log in to your 1Password account on 1Password.eu (in the browser, not the app)
  2. Click on your name and then click My Profile
  3. Click Edit Details in the upper left corner.
  4. Enter your new name and then click Save.

Lock and unlock the 1Password app and you should see the new name. Let me know if you run into any issues.

Thanks for you quick reply @1P_Dave.

I am logging in through my.1password.eu (I'm not @ .com) in the browser and I don't see a "Settings" option anywhere and all other menus and options I see don't offer anything "rename-ish" ;-)

Could you provide a deep-link to this settings-page please? (like e.g. https://my.1password.eu/profile).

Sorry @1P_Dave but that changes my name and not the former family name still lurking around everywhere for whatever reason - see screenshots:

Ok, got it - this is a bit confusing. Actually if I change the name (showing my name) in the profile then everyting works out ... I'd classify that as bug, the profile name should actually show the former family name to make clear, that you can change it here. But that's just my 2 cent ;-)

Otherwise you'd need to know, like you did, that whatever is stored there needs to be saved once again to override everything else after a plan change.

Thanks for your support!

I'm glad that changing the name worked for you! It sounds like you ran into an issue that has since been resolved where switching from a 1Password Families to an individual account wouldn't automatically change the account name to your name. This has been fixed so that folks downgrading in the future won't run into the same issue but the fix wasn't retroactive.

I'm sorry for the confusion and inconvenience.
