I want a complete export of everything including my passkeys so I can store them offline.

Hello @PastaShock! 👋

Thanks for reaching out! We aren’t planning to add passkeys to 1PUX because doing so would export them as plain text. Passkeys are intentionally not viewable in plain text, which is central to their phishing resistance and stronger security compared with passwords. They’re bound to the service they were created for, so exposing them as text would make them vulnerable to phishing like passwords.

1Password supports exporting passkeys using the Credential Exchange standard on iOS (iPhone and iPad). You can find instructions here:

Support for the Credential Exchange standard was developed in collaboration with platform vendors and other password managers through the FIDO Alliance to provide a secure and standardized way to import and export passkeys across password managers.

Other password managers do passkey export in their export file. Then I can import them into KeepassXC as a backup.

CXP does not allow you to export passkeys. It only allows you to transfer them to another provider. I want local export, so I can back them up offline.

So many bad choices made in the passkey spec.

@PastaShock

We’ve deliberately excluded passkeys from 1PUX to ensure they can’t be exposed in plain text. This helps preserve one of their key advantages over passwords: strong resistance to phishing. In the meantime, CXP allows you to transfer your passkeys to another password manager without exposing them as plain text.

If you’d like an additional way to access a website, beyond the passkey saved in 1Password, you can save a second passkey for that website in another password manager. However, passkeys saved in 1Password are automatically backed up to your account, so maintaining a manual backup isn’t necessary.
