Feature Request: Add QR Code Image Import for One-Time Password (2FA) Setup and More Theme Options

Hello 1Password team,

I would like to suggest two improvements that could make the 1Password experience even better.

1. Add the ability to import 2FA QR codes from the local photo library

Currently, when setting up a one-time password (TOTP/2FA), users can scan a QR code using the camera. However, many services provide QR codes as screenshots or image files instead of displaying them directly on another device.

It would be very useful if 1Password could allow users to:

Select a QR code image from the local photo library

Automatically detect and import the TOTP secret from the image

Support QR codes saved as screenshots or downloaded images

This would make migrating accounts and setting up 2FA much faster and more convenient.

2. Add more customization options and themes

I would also like to see more theme and appearance options in 1Password. For example:

More built-in color themes

More dark mode variations

Additional interface customization options

More personalization would allow users to create an experience that better matches their preferences.

Thank you for continuously improving 1Password. I hope these features can be considered for future updates.

Best regards

Hello @king52011! 👋

Thank you for the feedback! We appreciate learning how we can make 1Password more useful for your needs! I can certainly pass along both requests to our product team.

I was curious about this:

However, many services provide QR codes as screenshots or image files instead of displaying them directly on another device.

I don’t believe that I’ve seen this before, so the service doesn’t display a QR code that you can scan using 1Password? It automatically saves a screenshot or image to your photo library? Are you able to share the names of some of the services where you ran into this behaviour?

And on those websites, do you see a secret provided that you could paste into 1Password manually? See here for more details: https://support.1password.com/one-time-passwords/?mac#in-the-1password-apps

I look forward to hearing from you.
