Feature request: Default correct account for site when multiple exist

With a family account using sharing, there are many cases where multiple accounts exist for one site. It would be nice if 1Password was smart enough to recommend the account tied to the user who is signed into 1Password as the default one to use when you go to the site. In other words, if I go to a site, I want to see my account show up as the account to use for autofill and if my wife goes a a site, she should see hers. Right now, she always sees mine as the recommended account to use and she has to do extra work to pick hers. This primarily happens on iOS where there is a single option shown and a key to the right that lets you get more options to select from.

Came here to make the same suggestion.  Hard to believe this is still a thing one year later.

Or are OP and I missing something?

Hi @jetkins, thanks for commenting. And to the original poster - I'm sorry your post went unanswered for so long, that's not the experience we want anyone to have.

When multiple logins for the same website exist in a family account, 1Password doesn't currently have a way to prioritise the right one per-user. Favouriting an item will cause it to appear first in the list, but favourites are account-wide, rather than per-user, so everyone would see the same login prioritised.

If each person only ever signs into their own account, keeping those logins in individual private vaults rather than a shared vault would solve the problem. However, if there are times when you need to access each other's logins too, that workaround falls short and you'd still need to keep them in the shared vault and manually select the right one each time.

I can definitely understand how being able to identify and prioritise your own login would make things more streamlined here, and I'd be happy to file a feature request on your behalf.

If you're happy to share any examples of the types of logins you'd keep in a shared vault even when each family member has their own account, as well as the rationale for this, that would help us understand the full picture when passing this on.

Thanks for responding.  IDK if OP is even still around, but I'm happy to describe my use case...

I'm the "IT guy" and "travel agent" for our household.  Our 1P family includes me, my wife, and her mother.  We each have our own 1P account, but we have three shared vaults in addition to our own - one for my wife and me, one for my mother-in-law and me, and one for all three of us.  My wife share things like her airline accounts with me, so I can book her flights and manage our frequent flyer miles, while I have taken care of setting up online access for all the MiL's bills and banks, placing the details in her shared vault so she can use them once I've set them up (and I can help her out when she gets stuck again - she's in her 80's).

This multiplicity of accounts for each site isn't that big of a problem on my PC or laptop, as it's fairly easy to choose the one I want to use each time, but on my phone, it's more of a PITA.  If I'm logging in to Southwest's onboard WiFi, for example, 1P invariably offers up the MiL's ID, and I have to go into the 1Password app to find and select my account, copy my password, then return to SW, enter my ID, and paste the password.

My ideal solution would be to be able to select a default ID for each site, or at least have 1P offer the one in my personal vault ahead of any in shared vaults, but an acceptable alternative would be if there was some easier way to present and choose between multiple options when using 1P in my phone browser (I use Firefox, if it matters).

Heck, if you could even share the internal logic that the app is using to decide which one to present first, I could probably work with that, too.  If it's simply the one with the most recent timestamp, I can go change my password on these sites and update my 1P entries so they're the latest in each case.

Thanks!

I am still here and was just about to reply saying the same thing that @jetkins just said. Being the "IT" person for the house and for a second family account where I'm playing IT for my parents, I'm on numerous shared vaults and I would really prefer that the default account shown be mine if I'm on a particular site where multiple accounts exist for the same site.

Hi @ldbos and @jetkins, thanks so much for taking the time to share a bit more about your use cases here!

I've filed each of your feedback with the team to see if this is something we can improve upon moving forwards.
