I concur with this feature request. I use a very long password for my master password in 1Password. Typing it in a dozen times a day SUCKS and I have a Yubikey sitting right here!

Thank you for the feedback, I'll share it with the team. Out of curiosity, what platform do you use 1Password on? On a Mac, Windows PC, or something else? On each platform there are options to unlock 1Password using more convenient methods and I can share what's available for your platform.

I use 1Password on macOS and Ubuntu. On macOS there's no issue, since we can unlock it with the fingerprint directly. On Linux I haven't found a good alternative to the password.

This feature is very important to me!

On my enterprise computer Windows Hello is firmly disabled. I must unlock 1Password with my very long master password many times per day.

Being able to unlock with a hardware key and PIN is the most safe and faster alternative.

I am baffled why this functionality does not yet exist.

I also use the 1Password developer features to store my SSH keys and have to re-authenticate using my master password whenever the SSH agent is accessed!

I see you’ve linked to the passkey beta multiple times in these threads, but that beta is now closed and the functionality was removed from 1Password.

There is currently no way to unlock with a hardware key and PIN despite that being more secure than a master password and something a lot of people who use 1Password for work need.

The passkey beta has closed without the feature being added to 1Password.

People who use 1Password in a work environment need to be able to unlock the application using a hardware token and PIN. Either because of stricter security requirements or having a managed system that disables features like Windows Hello.

Thank you for the feedback, I’ve merged your posts into the same thread to keep the conversation in one place. While I can’t make any promises, I’ve filed a feature request to have our team look into adding security key unlock on your behalf as well.

As you mentioned, this was something that we were previously looking into with the passkey unlock beta and I’m still hopeful that the team will be able to bring that feature to regular accounts in the future.
