Focus feature request

When I use the keyboard shortcut to open 1Password, the focus should be set to the Search bar. Instead, it’s not focused anywhere on the 1Password app. It’s annoying to have to click Search when that’s the real reason I need to open it. Can we please get this fixed?

Thanks!

Hi @jguillet,

I’m happy to look into this further for you. Could you confirm the following:

  • What type of device are you using?
  • Are you opening the 1Password app, or browser extension?
  • What specific shortcut are you using?

Looking forward to your reply!

My earlier reply did not post.

I’m using 1Password for Windows 8.12.40 (beta) in Windows 11. I’m using the Ctrl-Shift-| keyboard shortcut to open the full app.

Focus changes to the 1Password app, but I’m not sure where. If I press tab, it goes to the Vault dropdown. If I press shift-tab, it goes to the sizeable vertical bar that separates items from their details.

Thanks for looking into this.

I have the same request.   Something recently changed that no longer has the cursor focused in the search field when 1Password is opened.  I’m on a Mac (Tahoe 26.6.1), open 1Password (8.12.36) with a keyboard shortcut (Command+Space and then “1”), not using any browser extensions, used to be able to instantly type in the search field but now have to tab several times or use the mouse to get there.
