Question

For how long will an entry get sync to desktop from browser extension?

I am using Arc browser with 1P chrome extenion, on macOS. With integration settings on and confirmed the status was green.

What's the behavior of sync and how long is the sync duration? It's really kind of limbo over there. Everytime I created a new item in browser, I just cannot expect when it will be ready in desktop app.

I just did saved one and didn't find it in desktop app for at least an hour. I even saw the item if I login to 1password web, but it's not synced to my local desktop. Not sure what's the integration meaning here, it used to be realtime when we enable the integration switch.

Any hints about how to get items synced? Everytime I saved an entry in browser, I was just wondering maybe I lost the password, since it's not there when I open 1Password desktop app.

Hello @Leon_Guan! 👋

I'm sorry that you're seeing a delay between creating a new item using 1Password in the browser and seeing that item in the desktop app. It sounds like the item is making it to your 1Password account (since you see it in the web app) and the issue is occurring from the desktop app's side of things. Can you tell me which version of 1Password for Mac you're using?

You can force the 1Password for Mac desktop app to check for new items by manually locking and then unlocking the app. Does that allow you to see the item immediately?

Thanks, This is my version of desktop app:

1Password for Mac 8.10.62 (81062027)

And yes, you are right, manually lock and unlock 1P will have the items synced after login very quickly. Can we at least have a sync button or shortcut to let's decide whether to sync from server?

@Leon_Guan

Thank you for confirming that locking and unlocking 1Password allows you to see the new changes immediately.

The 1Password app doesn't have a sync button since it should just update automatically and instantly whenever you create a new item, or edit an existing item, on another device or browser. It sounds like something is going wrong with how the 1Password app communicates with your 1Password account. The next time that you run into the issue, so that we can investigate this further, I'd like to ask you to create a diagnostics report from your Mac:

Send a diagnostics report (Mac)

Attach the diagnostics to an email message addressed to support@1password.com

I am also having same problems. Any logins updated on the web browser does not reflect in the mac app and vise-a-versa. This is really annoying. Please provide a sync button on both the web and mac app for your incapabilities of tech team. Its irratiting. I am trying to find alternatives for passward manager.

@sameerchavan

I'm sorry that you're not seeing changes made to items on all devices. If you lock and then unlock the desktop app then does that get things working again?

Can you also tell me which version of 1Password you're currently using?

Yes, the lock and unlock does solve the problem. But I would request to have a sync icon on the desktop app and also on the browser extension.
Even gmail has a sync account icon to pull new emails, even if they are super smart than you guys, There is no shame. It just helps and the user is in control to sync it if there is a delay. In your case, it’s always delay,
