FR: Support Proton Mail's Decryption Password

It would be nice if 1Password detected more than just the initial password request and 2fa. Proton Mail has a second "decryption" password you can enable/setup. Currently I have added a second password field in my entry for Proton Mail, but 1Password detects the second decryption password request as the original and tries to dump that password in rather than the correct "decryption" password.

I'd like to see 1Password automatically understand second request for what it is--a second password layer for the same account--and automatically dump the password in the requested field.

Thanks for the reply. That would work! However, I would suggest that you wait to remove the second password from the original item until you've created the new item for the second password.

Alternatively, Proton does offer a one-password mode that they say offers the same level of security: https://proton.me/support/single-password (this is a third-party website so I can't vouch for its accuracy.)

Hi @Oldcastle,

Thanks for explaining your use case here and how Proton Mail offers the second password. I see we actually have a record of this and are treating it as a bug rather than a feature request, so I added you to the list of users affected by the bug.

I did see one workaround you could try is creating another item in 1Password for that second password and using that item to autofill. I know that's not ideal, but wanted to share in case it helps you in the meantime.

I hadn't thought of that. What I'm hearing is to copy the password from the decryption password field, remove it from the entry, and when the second password prompt appears use that opportunity and password to create a new entry attached to that URL?

This was to ensure end-to-end encryption. However, over time, our research team developed a way to provide the same level of privacy and security with just a single password.

I was unaware one-password mode was as safe now (see quote). Thanks for the heads up!
