Genuine prompt for Data sharing by 1Password?

Recently I have been receiving prompts on my login page of 1password asking me for allowance to share network usage of 1password for improvement purposes. It says that it can always be changed in setting. I couldn't find such a thing in 1Password setting. Is this prompt a genuine one or a hacking attempt?

Hello @Saneandconsiderate! 👋

Thanks for the question! Are you seeing a prompt that looks like this:

If you are then this prompt is legitimate and you can read more here: Rolling Out Our Privacy-Preserving Telemetry System

You can always change your choice by following these steps using the 1Password for Mac desktop app:

  1. Open and unlock 1Password for Mac.
  2. Click on the account selector in the sidebar and then click Manage Accounts.
  3. Click on your account.
  4. Click Usage data and choose whether to share information or not.

I hope that helps! 🙂
