Getting message that "1Password Extension for Safari will stop working soon"

When using the 1Password extension for Safari, I'm getting a message that says "1Password Extension for Safari will stop working soon. Your version of Safari is no longer supported by 1Password. Update your browser as soon as possible to keep using 1Password with Safari."

I'm running Safari Version 18.3 (20620.2.4.11.5) on MacOS 15.3.1. Which according to the system requirements here is a supported version.

Hi, @lowfatevan ,

Just to check—are you using the TestFlight (beta) version of 1Password for Safari?

If so, the notice you’re seeing is expected in the beta. It’s planned to roll out in the stable release around April 21, 2026, along with an update to our system requirements guide for Safari 18.6 and later.

Sorry for the confusion here—especially the part that says “1Password Extension for Safari will stop working soon.”That message isn’t accurate.

To clarify:

  • The extension will continue to work on Safari 18.5 and earlier
  • However, 1Password for Safari won’t receive updates unless Safari is updated to version 18.6 or newer

Thanks for calling this out—I’ll share your feedback with the team so we can improve the messaging and avoid confusion going forward.

Hope that helps!

Kevin,

I'm running version 8.12.12.43 of the extension. Thanks for the clarification. Any way to keep it from popping up every time I click on the extension?

Thanks for reporting this. That behavior isn’t expected — the notice shouldn’t appear every time you click the extension.Could you record a short video of what you’re seeing and send it to support@1Password.com?

With your email, please include:

  • A link to this thread
  • Your Community username

After you send it, you'll receive an automated reply with a Support ID number. Please share that number here so we can connect everything together.

Once you’ve recorded the issue, could you switch back to the stable version of 1Password for Safari and test again? To do that:

  1. Quit Safari
  2. Move the current beta version of 1Password for Safari from Applications to Trash (this will reserve your TestFlight spot)
  3. Reinstall the stable version from the App Store

After reinstalling, let me know if the deprecation notice still appears each time you click the extension.
